Burger Challenge! (Part 1)

Downtown Rock Springs has created this burger challenge. Throughout the month of May we need to go to five different restaurants and order their burger. We then need to take a picture of ourselves with our burgers (#bugerselfie) and submit them to the downtown Rock Springs page. Once we get all five burgers we each get a t-shirt and a certificate of Epic Achievement signed by our mayor!

I understand that most people take on challenges that will better themselves. Usually these challenges are diets or health challenges. This challenge is by no means healthy but it does help better our community. I feel it is bringing people together and showing support for our downtown businesses! I also want to add that this challenge is fun. In a way that may take away from the term "challenge". However, I think more often than not it is a challenge to let ourselves enjoy life and do something that is fun!

To put it simply, this is just awesome and we could not pass it up! My brothers, Jason and Clay, also decided to join us and tonight we got our first burger. We went to Broadway Burger! Yummy!

Broadway Burger has an old diner feel. They had Happy Days playing on a tv in the back ground. Pictures of many greats like James Dean and Elvis Presley on the wall. They bring you back in time while serving delicious burgers and of course scrumptious milk shakes! This is definitely one of our favorite places to eat, especially for the fry sauce!

And here are our burger selfies!

Last Second Plans

For anyone that knows my husband and I, they would probably know that we are planners. When we go on trips; we plan ahead, we save up money, book hotel rooms, and of course check out living social deals (these are basically vacationing coupons!).

For example we have a family reunion coming up at the end of July. I am flying down with Peter and my family. And Matt is taking James and my brothers for the ultimate cross-country trip. (Driving 18 hours to Texas from Wyoming is cross-country, right?) This is where all the planning comes in. Matt has made quite the itinerary for this trip. Just today, I heard about the possible plans to get a huge 50 dollar steak that if eaten in an hour, is free. He has so much planned that I would say they are way overbooked. This is just part of what we do. Even for simple Utah trips we have everything lined out from what we are doing to the places we are going to eat.

However, this week we were faced with a few out of the blue plans. On Monday, I decided to go visiting teaching. Of course Wednesay was the end of the month. Luckily my partner and the ladies I visit, went with the flow. On Tuesday I spent some fun time with these ladies. Matt used the time to go on a walk with the boys and Lexi. His mom made a surprise visit and joined in their fun.

The week then carried on as expected. James got to learn about the letter J. He was beyond excited to finally learn about his special letter! James also seem to discover that the backyard is a lot of fun especially with the weather getting warmer! It seems that every day he is throwing on his shoes and asking to go outside! This makes me very happy! Even Peter liked the warm weather!

Thursday; my brother Jason popped by and we had him over for dinner. What can I say? He is graduating soon and I'm going to miss him! I feel like I need to have him over all the time!!

On Friday, we got to have some more last minute plans. First, we got to go on a walk with "grandma" Janet. This was a lot of fun and James was excited to learn that Janet's special letter was also J just like him! Right after this we randomly invited my mom, Curt, and my two littlest brothers over for dinner. James loves playing with those boys!

But it was Saturday that really took us all by surprise. I woke up that morning to a text from my mom asking if I wanted to go to Salt Lake with her. This seemed a bit crazy especially since she wanted to be leaving right away! Of course my Saturdays are very rarely free. We are planners after all. This Saturday was no exception and I told my mom that if I went then I would have to be back by 5:30 so I could get ready to go to the adult session of Stake Conference. I honestly thought that she would no longer want me to come but she was all for it.

Before I knew it I was driving off to Utah with Peter, my mom, and my sister Caroline. This was beyond crazy for me and I couldn't quite decide if I was okay with this spur of the moment decision. Luckily for me, I have an awesome husband. He is a planner but he is also the type of person who can seize a day and make the most of it. He made sure that his day was full of adventure. So while I was miles away, he gave James a day of swimming in the river, going to the park, hanging with his uncles and aunts, shooting shot guns, and of course pizza!

We made is back with plenty of time to get ready. My husband and I told each other of our day as we got dressed for church. We dropped James off to have more fun as he got babysat by Caroline and went to the adult session. And it was amazing! I just love feeling the spirit and getting enlightened to do more and be more! This session was full of talks of missionary work. My head was spinning with hope of who I could touch with the spirit! I just loved it!

My boys enjoyed sleeping in on Sunday!

Sunday was also full of fun. We attended the stake conference. After my dad asked if my siblings could come over to my house later but first could James go to his. James went and had his fun and then at four my siblings showed up and we watched Disney's Chimpanzee. (Great movie by the way!) I also discovered that May 4th is Star Wars Day!

And then to end this crazy unplanned week, I had asked my mom if we could have this play set my brothers no longer used. She had said yes to this earlier in the week but last minute we decided to finally go get it. We thought "Awe a walk sounds nice!" We thought we will just go take it apart and then come home and grab the car to pick it up. But that would be much to easy! After all, what is life without a little adventure!

To clear some confusion; yes, that is our double stroller; yes, we decided to just walk it home; and yes, we got some strange looks and even questions.

It was well worth it!! The kids absolutely love the play set! This was a pretty crazy week full of unexpected moments. I feel I learned that I do love planning but I know that I can enjoy the moment as it comes! Sometimes it is good just to Let it go!
